Starting from 5 years ago, North East Malaysian Night (NEMN) has been a commendable effort of Malaysian societies from five universities in the northeast region including Newcastle, Northumbria, Durham and Sunderland. Since then, NEMN continues to be the flagship event of the participating societies, providing entertainment and eye-opening cultural education to its guests. Last year, we went even bigger by collaborating with five universities, adding Teesside University in the list and brought our success to another level. Not only that, our upcoming MNight, the NEMN 2020 will be more interesting than before as we welcome the involvement of students from our neighbouring country, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.

NEMN 2020 will be the 9th venture and it presents a good opportunity for North East Malaysian Societies to continue the fine tradition of collaborating. This collaboration aims to encourage camaraderie among the members of the universities, in addition to showcasing a wider pool of talents.

With the aim of bringing NEMN on a greater height than ever, this year we would like to introduce a play that specially written and will be directed by our producers this year. It is a fictional story of friendship, growing up and learning to accept change, named the ‘Parallel Lines’. We guarantee an enchanting and memorable experience where the guests can immerse themselves in our rich and vibrant cultural showcase throughout the musical play. The showcase would rightfully imbue upon the guests the unique essence of our Malaysian culture through mediums of theatre, dance, food, cultural exhibitions and traditional games.
