Warwick Malaysian Night 2020
February 22, 2020 @ 19:30 PM - 22:00 PM
£10Deep in the Malaysian rainforest, a powerful spirit resides, protecting all who dwell there. For centuries, the jungle and the nearby village have co-existed peacefully, but with rapid modernization, the creatures of the jungle face death and extinction.
The indigenous villagers are the main demanders of ‘gifts’ from the spirit of mother nature, Mak Banyan, symbolising demand of resources by humans for development. However, Mak Banyan gets weaker over time catering to their demands. Their pursuit of development stems from mitigating circumstances such as harsh living conditions. The animals too, rely on Mak Banyan for shelter and survival. With accelerating development and the rapid weakening of Mak Banyan, their dependency on her is being threatened, and so are their lives. The conflict between the two parties sparks immense chaos in the jungle. Will they break the vicious cycle of the dilemma? Or will the whole ecosystem collapse?
The story goes into detail on recurring world events concerning the environment, such as tiger poaching, to convey the message of environmental conservation and wildlife protection.
